The tax and accounting profession has had vendor specific electronic “communities” dating back to the early 80’s. We’ve progressed from BBS’s through Yahoo groups and lately to Wiki’s. In this well-over 25 year history we’ve seen a lot come and go.Thomson has been in the game (via CSI) since 1984, and Intuit since 1994. But until yesterday CCH users were “on their own” in a loosely organized Yahoo group. But, as the headline indicated, all that changed yesterday when CCH rolled out their “online community”. In typical CCH fashion, it is absolutely top drawer. They chose the Mzinga OmniSocial platform which is generally accepted to be the “state-of-the-art” in business oriented social networking.
I applaud CCH in their continuing advocacy, support, and leadership in the melding of useful technology with the practice of public accounting. I love it when vendors “walk the walk” rather than just “talking the talk”.
If you’re a CCH user my guess is that you’ll find the CCH Community to be a valuable asset. My guess is that you’ll find real value here.
