The latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard is $29 worth of great stuff for Mac users who, like me, live with one foot in Windows-land. The new OS includes Boot Camp 3 which runs 64-bit Windows 7 like a champ!. One nice bonus of the new Boot Camp is better drivers. For instance the multi-touch trackpad for seems less sensitive so I can actually use features like tab-to-click and double-tab right-clicks. And --- big bonus here --- the new version allows users to “see” files on the opposite partition. From inside OS X Snow Leopard I can actually see and grab files on my Windows 7 partition, and vice versa. And --- even BIGGER bonus here --- Snow Leopard features out-of-the-box native support for Exchange 2007. Now I’m about as jaded as they come when it comes to stuff like this but let me tell you --- setting up the new Mac OS with Exchange was just about the closest thing to pure magic that I’ve ever experienced with technology. When I opened the “Mail” application I was prompted for my username and password. THAT’S IT!! Since my Exchange server has “auto-discover” enabled the Mac was able to do EVERYTHING from that point forward. It immediately started synchronizing and a couple of hours later my 4GB+ Outlook mailbox was duplicated on my Mac. Sweet!!

PS --- for all of you loyal readers who’ve been asking “Where the heck ARE you and why aren’t you posting?” --- thanks for your support and encouragement. I’m in the process of trying to slow down my life (I’d like to LESS than 100,000 miles next year!) and determine priorities. Unfortunately, TheTechGap seemed to slip during this period of discernment. I’m back, it’s back, and you’ll see me here regularly moving forward. Look for some other fun things coming soon, too!
